Resident Support Worker

Work Setting:
Women’s shelter
Shelter for the homeless
Social service or charity agency
​
Specific Skills:
Prepare daily reports
Provide child care
Assist clients with time management and organization skills
Promote and encourage daily living skills
Assist with administering medication
Appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services
Assess client’s relevant skill strengths and development needs
Provide suicide and crisis intervention
Resolve conflict situations
Supervise children’s visits with parent to ensure their safety
Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients
Accompany clients to appointments and social outings

You must have the following:
Child abuse registry check
Child welfare check
Criminal record check/ clearance with vulnerable population
First Aid/ CPR Certificate
Completion of post secondary education (in a related field
