Fun in the Daycare

August 12, 2026

Today, we were gifted some beautiful roses. the infants were invited to explore loose rose petals and whole rose heads. They used their hands to touch, pick up, squeeze, and investigate the delicate petals. Some infants showed curiosity by smelling the roses and encouraging the educators to smell them also, while others carefully examined the different textures and shapes.

This open-ended experience allowed the infants to explore nature at their own pace, using their senses and making their own discoveries. Through touching and manipulating the flowers, they were developing fine-motor skills, coordination, and an awareness of the natural world.

NBCF Connection: This experience supports infants as curious, capable learners by encouraging exploration, sensory discovery, communication, physical development, and meaningful connections with nature.
